A Terrifying Kickstarter to Consider – Hell Train adventure

Hell Train is a 1st level horror adventure for Weird Frontiers, a Weird West setting that is compatible with DCC (Dungeon Crawl Classics) by Goodman Games. Hell Train is published by Rugby-Melee Games. By the way, Palladium is in talks with the main writer, John Watson, to write new RPG material for Palladium Books in 2024, so you know he’s good. The Hell Train adventure is weird fun that most G.M.s should be able to adapt to Beyond the Supernatural and maybe even Rifts® New West with some work. Just saying.

Hell Train takes place in the 1880s Old West at a small town in East Texas. The heroes encounter a small community with a dark past and restless dead. You heard right, ghosts and zombies (and something worse?!) walk the streets and travel a train from the spirit realm. Board the train and battle the dead responsible for the turmoil and restore the town. Just make sure you are not on the Hell Train when it leaves the station, because its destination: Hell by way of the very heart of madness. Link below.

Consider supporting this Kickstarter and save lives

Relief in the Congo for God’s Children from Human Trafficking (RIGHT) is conducting another Kickstarter to raise money for a great cause. Please support Building Resilience in the Congo (BRIC), a group that rescues, educates, protects, and sustains young boys and girls, as well as young women and young men who would otherwise fall victim to regional warlords and rebels. These villains regularly take children and teenagers from their homes and force them into slave labor, or to become child-soldiers and sex workers against their will.

Slavery and sex trafficking are unfathomably cruel and all too real. A pledge as small as $5 or $10 can make a profound difference to these children and young adults.

I personally know the people running this Kickstarter. They are good folks, and ALL the money (after Kickstarter’s fees) go toward building better, stronger, higher defensive walls around a compound that helps, protects and educates young boys and girls rescued from slavery. Many of the people running the program onsite in the African Congo are former child-soldiers and abused females themselves. People who were either rescued and received help themselves or miraculously found their way back to something of a normal life. Now they are trying to rescue and save other children from a similar fate.

The funds of this particular fund-raiser will go to the construction of a defensive concrete wall, a schoolhouse, and iron gate to protect the children and teenagers rescued from this horrific life.

Palladium Collectibles – at Kevin’s Online Toy & Collectibles eBay Store

I am adding new collectibles and Palladium negatives over the next several weeks, so check ‘em out. Alex and I will try to post new items on a regular basis, so check in every week or so to see what’s new.

One-of-a-kind Palladium Books negatives (special and rare collectibles). Negatives are always very popular items at the Palladium Open House, Gen Con, and conventions, and are catching on as rare collectibles, unique in and of themselves. Before digital printing, pages of a book were laid out by hand on a board, and each page was photographed. The plastic film negatives were then “ganged” on a massive sheet of Mylar, 16 pages per big sheet, and the printing plates were made from the negatives – everything white, printing black. We have been cutting them loose and making them available to you. I am only keeping a few dozen pages of negatives and a few complete books for myself, the rest are all being slowly offered to you, in no particular order.

  • Each is truly unique, attractive, and fun to have.
  • Own a piece of Palladium Books and RPG history you will treasure.
  • Each was used to print the very book you may have in your collection (1981-2004).
  • Each signed in silver ink by Kevin Siembieda, the founder and owner of Palladium Books. He is also the game designer and often the author or co-author of the book from which the negative originates. And some negatives bear his artwork.
  • Each signed negative comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
  • Each signed negative is a one-of-a-kind work of art (on rare occasions, two-of-a-kind if a page or section of pages were replaced or a second edition was made) that resembles woodcut art, and a very dynamic conversation piece.
  • Each signed negative is on a white board inside a clear plastic bag.
  • Negatives looks fabulous matted or framed! Fits in an 8×10 inch matt opening. Each neg is roughly 8½ x 11 inches.
  • Prices vary depending on the title, the art, and quality of the negative. Note: Many have scratches, or blemishes, and/or an opaque medium on the negative. Still, they look great and are a piece of RPG history. We recommend you carefully examine the photographs of each item to avoid disappointment.
  • We have been making the negatives available, in no particular order, for a number of years, and will continue to do so. However, cutting them loose, signing and bagging is a time consuming process.
  • Note: The negatives from the TMNT RPG, TMNT Adventures, and some Rifts® titles are already sold out. Moreover, the negatives from many titles were destroyed, so when you see one you like, get it when you can. Enjoy.

Original art – My Ebay store is one of the few places where you can find original artwork by me (Kevin Siembieda), Kevin Long, Charles Walton, and others, as well as one-of-a-kind negatives from classic Palladium books (they look awesome framed), and other Palladium memorabilia. Some are concept sketches, others are finished works of art, as well as a selection of prints and posters.

Closing Thoughts – This and that

Several book projects are moving forward here at Palladium. A number of back stock items should arrive from the printer any day now, including Rifts® Africa and Dragons & Gods (Fantasy).

I’m wrapping up Yin-Sloth Jungles, Revised and Expanded to Second Edition rules, and it is really expanded. A number of people have seen the manuscript now and they have been wowed by it and that it is updated on the level of Rifts® Bestiary. Another person compared it to Garden of the Gods, a fan favorite sourcebook. I really went to town on the O.C.C.s and creatures. Folks are over the moon with them all, especially the Tezcat, Holy Crusader, Undead Hunter, Witch Hunter, and Pygmy. Yes, the Pygmy is truly unique and awesome now. But there are so many other cool and fun upgrades and additions, including Sea Giants, new maps, and some new art.

All the Rifts® Titan Robotics products – Titan Robotics softcover, hardcovers, print sets, and The Cyberworks Collection hardcovers and poker deck – are all at the various printers and we anxiously await their arrival along with all of you. Any week now!

Rifts® Bestiary Volume 2, Rifts® Antarctica, and The Rifter® #86 are next among other things. Sean and I cannot wait to get even more books dropping into your hands.

One game system – every genre – countless worlds – endless adventure

It is the long Memorial Day weekend here in the USA, so I will keep this Update short as I’m sure many of you have plans for fun in the sun. Drive safe, don’t eat or drink too much, and have some fun. According to weather forecasters it looks like most of us can expect a beautiful, sunny and warm weekend, so enjoy yourselves.

Please also take a moment to stop and think about every person who has ever served in the military to keep us safe, and offer up a little prayer of gratitude. In my book that includes first responders past and present. The United States of America, like we ourselves, is far from perfect, but also like most of us, it strives to be something great. Something good. Something of which we can all be proud. That’s worth a moment of reflection and thanks to the people who have made the ultimate sacrifice in support of the American ideal and the betterment of our lives.

So let me say it, thank you for your service. You are remembered and appreciated. Everyday I try to pay it forward by working to be the best person I can be: More understanding, patient, kinder, always creative and appreciative of everything I have. In my own small way I try to make the world a better, gentler place. I hope we all do what we can to make our country and the world better. Relief in the Congo for God’s Children from Human Trafficking (RIGHT) is conducting another Kickstarter to raise money for a great cause. Please support Building Resilience in the Congo (BRIC), a group that rescues, educates, protects, and sustains young boys and girls, as well as young women and young men who would otherwise fall victim to regional warlords and rebels. These villains regularly take children and teenagers from their homes and force them into slave labor, or to become child-soldiers and sex workers against their will.

Slavery and sex trafficking are unfathomably cruel and all too real. A pledge as small as $5 or $10 can make a profound difference to these children and young adults.

I personally know the people running this Kickstarter. They are good folks, and ALL the money (after Kickstarter’s fees) go toward building better, stronger, higher defensive walls around a compound that helps, protects and educates young boys and girls rescued from slavery. Many of the people running the program onsite in the African Congo are former child-soldiers and abused females themselves. People who were either rescued and received help themselves or miraculously found their way back to something of a normal life. Now they are trying to rescue and save other children from a similar fate.

The funds of this particular fund-raiser will go to the construction of a defensive concrete wall, a schoolhouse, and iron gate to protect the children and teenagers rescued from this horrific life.

Palladium Collectibles – at Kevin’s Online Toy & Collectibles eBay Store

I am adding new collectibles and Palladium negatives over the next several weeks, so check ‘em out. Alex and I will try to post new items on a regular basis, so check in every week or so to see what’s new.

One-of-a-kind Palladium Books negatives (special and rare collectibles). Negatives are always very popular items at the Palladium Open House, Gen Con, and conventions, and are catching on as rare collectibles, unique in and of themselves. Before digital printing, pages of a book were laid out by hand on a board, and each page was photographed. The plastic film negatives were then “ganged” on a massive sheet of Mylar, 16 pages per big sheet, and the printing plates were made from the negatives – everything white, printing black. We have been cutting them loose and making them available to you. I am only keeping a few dozen pages of negatives and a few complete books for myself, the rest are all being slowly offered to you, in no particular order.

  • Each is truly unique, attractive, and fun to have.
  • Own a piece of Palladium Books and RPG history you will treasure.
  • Each was used to print the very book you may have in your collection (1981-2004).
  • Each signed in silver ink by Kevin Siembieda, the founder and owner of Palladium Books. He is also the game designer and often the author or co-author of the book from which the negative originates. And some negatives bear his artwork.
  • Each signed negative comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
  • Each signed negative is a one-of-a-kind work of art (on rare occasions, two-of-a-kind if a page or section of pages were replaced or a second edition was made) that resembles woodcut art, and a very dynamic conversation piece.
  • Each signed negative is on a white board inside a clear plastic bag.
  • Negatives looks fabulous matted or framed! Fits in an 8×10 inch matt opening. Each neg is roughly 8½ x 11 inches.
  • Prices vary depending on the title, the art, and quality of the negative. Note: Many have scratches, or blemishes, and/or an opaque medium on the negative. Still, they look great and are a piece of RPG history. We recommend you carefully examine the photographs of each item to avoid disappointment.
  • We have been making the negatives available, in no particular order, for a number of years, and will continue to do so. However, cutting them loose, signing and bagging is a time consuming process.
  • Note: The negatives from the TMNT RPG, TMNT Adventures, and some Rifts® titles are already sold out. Moreover, the negatives from many titles were destroyed, so when you see one you like, get it when you can. Enjoy.

Original art – My Ebay store is one of the few places where you can find original artwork by me (Kevin Siembieda), Kevin Long, Charles Walton, and others, as well as one-of-a-kind negatives from classic Palladium books (they look awesome framed), and other Palladium memorabilia. Some are concept sketches, others are finished works of art, as well as a selection of prints and posters.

Closing Thoughts – Happy Summer and Memorial Day

Springtime signals rebirth and renewal as we head into the warm, sunny days of summer. The daylight hours are longer, there’s plenty of work to do and fun to be had, and there’s a palpable energy and sense of new life as we shake off the long winter. That’s an excellent metaphor for Palladium Books and how Sean and I feel – heck, all of us here are feeling about Palladium these days. And we are about to explode onto the new release scene with several summer products.

Palladium is coming out of a very long, proverbial winter into a productive spring and a summer filled with new products and excitement. NEWS! My friend and fellow writer and publisher Phil Reed and his wife Gina were in town on vacation and arranged a visit to Palladium. If the name sounds familiar it’s because Phil has served as the CEO of Steven Jackson Games for a decade or more and has written and Kickstarted all kinds of things. He’s still with SJG but has stepped down as CEO to pursue personal creative ventures in games, writing, and music. Some of those ventures may be with Palladium Books. It’s too soon to talk about them now, but we’ll definitely keep you posted.

 

NEWS! Rifts® for Savage Worlds from Pinnacle – I just approved the Rifts® Land of a Thousand Islands and several titles. They were a fun read and look great. I would imagine you are looking at a fall release for these titles.

 

NEWS! Matthew & Stephanie Clements’ Chicago wedding was wonderful. So was the Saturday brunch. It was sweet to see two people so in love and seemingly perfect for each other. Both have wonderful families. Several cousins on Matt’s side are Palladium/Rifts fans (hey Neil, hey John), which made me the unofficial celebrity guest. Ha, ha, ha. We were delighted to see our dear friend and artist Nick Bradshaw (love that guy) and his wife Katie present which made for a fun surprise! I was also able to spend time with my L.A. pal Drew Cooke. I can never get enough of these wonderful friends, Matt, or Stephanie. Nice wedding and brunch venue, good eats, good company, what more could we ask for? We had a nice time before heading back to Michigan. Wayne Smith and his wife Sheila let me tag along with them, so he did all the driving, which was nice for me.

Relief in the Congo for God’s Children from Human Trafficking (RIGHT) is conducting another Kickstarter to raise money for a great cause. Please support Building Resilience in the Congo (BRIC), a group that rescues, educates, protects, and sustains young boys and girls, as well as young women and young men who would otherwise fall victim to regional warlords and rebels. These villains regularly take children and teenagers from their homes and force them into slave labor, or to become child-soldiers and sex workers against their will.

Slavery and sex trafficking are unfathomably cruel and all too real. A pledge as small as $5 or $10 can make a profound difference to these children and young adults.

I personally know the people running this Kickstarter. They are good folks, and ALL the money (after Kickstarter’s fees) go toward building better, stronger, higher defensive walls around a compound that helps, protects and educates young boys and girls rescued from slavery. Many of the people running the program onsite in the African Congo are former child-soldiers and abused females themselves. People who were either rescued and received help themselves or miraculously found their way back to something of a normal life. Now they are trying to rescue and save other children from a similar fate.

The funds of this particular fund-raiser will go to the construction of a defensive concrete wall, a schoolhouse, and iron gate to protect the children and teenagers rescued from this horrific life.

Palladium Collectibles – at Kevin’s Online Toy & Collectibles eBay Store

I am adding new collectibles and Palladium negatives over the next several weeks, so check ‘em out. Alex and I will try to post new items on a regular basis, so check in every week or so to see what’s new.

One-of-a-kind Palladium Books negatives (special and rare collectibles). Negatives are always very popular items at the Palladium Open House, Gen Con, and conventions, and are catching on as rare collectibles, unique in and of themselves. Before digital printing, pages of a book were laid out by hand on a board, and each page was photographed. The plastic film negatives were then “ganged” on a massive sheet of Mylar, 16 pages per big sheet, and the printing plates were made from the negatives – everything white, printing black. We have been cutting them loose and making them available to you. I am only keeping a few dozen pages of negatives and a few complete books for myself, the rest are all being slowly offered to you, in no particular order.

  • Each is truly unique, attractive, and fun to have.
  • Own a piece of Palladium Books and RPG history you will treasure.
  • Each was used to print the very book you may have in your collection (1981-2004).
  • Each signed in silver ink by Kevin Siembieda, the founder and owner of Palladium Books. He is also the game designer and often the author or co-author of the book from which the negative originates. And some negatives bear his artwork.
  • Each signed negative comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
  • Each signed negative is a one-of-a-kind work of art (on rare occasions, two-of-a-kind if a page or section of pages were replaced or a second edition was made) that resembles woodcut art, and a very dynamic conversation piece.
  • Each signed negative is on a white board inside a clear plastic bag.
  • Negatives looks fabulous matted or framed! Fits in an 8×10 inch matt opening. Each neg is roughly 8½ x 11 inches.
  • Prices vary depending on the title, the art, and quality of the negative. Note: Many have scratches, or blemishes, and/or an opaque medium on the negative. Still, they look great and are a piece of RPG history. We recommend you carefully examine the photographs of each item to avoid disappointment.
  • We have been making the negatives available, in no particular order, for a number of years, and will continue to do so. However, cutting them loose, signing and bagging is a time consuming process.
  • Note: The negatives from the TMNT RPG, TMNT Adventures, and some Rifts® titles are already sold out. Moreover, the negatives from many titles were destroyed, so when you see one you like, get it when you can. Enjoy.

Original art – My Ebay store is one of the few places where you can find original artwork by me (Kevin Siembieda), Kevin Long, Charles Walton, and others, as well as one-of-a-kind negatives from classic Palladium books (they look awesome framed), and other Palladium memorabilia. Some are concept sketches, others are finished works of art, as well as a selection of prints and posters.

Other collectibles include art prints, posters, comic books, Palladium limited edition hardcovers, out of print items, signed books, one-of-a-kind proofreader copies, Star Wars toys, superhero action figures, and many other toys and items from my personal collection. Closing Thoughts – Feeling positive

Things are hopping here in Palladiumville. We are pursuing all kinds of opportunities behind the scenes like working with Phil Reed and others, entertaining visitors who come to see the Palladium offices and warehouse, meetings with industry insiders, and writing our hearts out to bring you new products.

That food poisoning I had really did a number on me, but I was able to rest and recuperate, in part thanks to Matt’s wedding which was a fun, relaxing break from my usual busy schedule. I have been a juggernaut all week writing and working with artists, as well as dealing with book printer issues, Savage Rifts® book approvals, and a whole lot more. It has been a very productive week and you’ll start seeing the fruits of our labors very soon.

Sales have been very uneven, up and down, so please keep your support coming. We’ll be launching a new Palladium website soon and taking other action to get our products into new market venues. In fact, we have been glad to see an increasing number of independent store owners reach out to us about buying our books directly from Palladium. Reminder, if your favorite hobby store mentions they are having trouble getting Palladium Books products from distributors, please tell them they can buy our products from us. They can make inquiries via the Help Desk or by calling the office (734-721-2900).

I know the world feels crazy and worrisome. The cost of food and other commodities seems to keep climbing (at Palladium we’re trying to hold the line on prices the best we can), and there’s injustice and discord everywhere, but try to stay positive. Don’t let divisive voices divide us or tear you up emotionally. Be true to yourself and your loved ones. Make a difference in the world by not giving in to hate and fear. Stand strong and do good for whomever you can. Even the smallest gestures – a smile, a compliment, a sincere thank you – can make a huge difference in brightening someone’s day. Be a positive force for good and kindness. And don’t despair. Find joy and escape in gaming. Use your imagination to explore new worlds and adventure across the Megaverse®. Remember, you are only limited by your imagination. If you can think it, you can be it.

Savage Rifts® Conversion PDFs reminder from Sean Owen Roberson – We’ve had some of you reaching out to us to ask if pre-orders are eligible to receive the Savage Rifts conversion PDFs for Titan Robotics™ and the Cyberworks™ Collection. Many are Savage Worlds fans who have had their interest piqued by Rifts® for Savage Worlds and are unfamiliar with Palladium’s general way of doing things. First off, welcome! Second, I’d like to make a few points to help clarify everyone’s expectations:

  • There are technically two Savage Worlds Adventure Edition (SWADE) conversion documents. The first is the Titan Robotics™ SWADE conversion. The second is the Cyberworks™ Collection SWADE conversion, which was a stretch goal that Kevin and I decided to grant to all backers as an early Christmas present. For brevity, I call the docs “Savage Titan Robotics” and “Savage Cyberworks” but be advised that these are purely rules conversions, they won’t mean much without the context of Palladium’s Titan Robotics™ or Cyberworks™ Collection sourcebooks.
  • Palladium Books, unlike Pinnacle Entertainment Group (the makers of the Savage Worlds RPG), does NOT release PDFs for public sale immediately upon the release of print books. Without getting technical about business strategies, etc., please just respect that our two companies have very different market approaches.
  • This means that crowdfunding campaigns and pre-orders that include PDFs are often a unique chance to purchase PDFs at a discounted pledge or pre-order bundle price.

Both Savage Rifts® conversion documents are strictly Kickstarter rewards, HOWEVER the Mechanoids® (and therefore the Cyberworks™) content is especially so due to our current licensing agreement with Pinnacle Entertainment. I was super duper clear about this during the Kickstarter and all of the related interviews, but it seems new fans still got confused and were under the impression that these items would be put up for sale as PDFs as soon as they are finished. This is definitely not the case. That said, we’re bummed if any well-meaning fans get left out of the fun due to what seems to have been a fairly common misconception. – Sean

Palladium Collectibles – at Kevin’s Online Toy & Collectibles eBay Store

I am adding new collectibles and Palladium negatives over the next several weeks, so check ‘em out. Alex and I will try to post new items on a regular basis, so check in every week or so to see what’s new.

One-of-a-kind Palladium Books negatives (special and rare collectibles). Negatives are always very popular items at the Palladium Open House, Gen Con, and conventions, and are catching on as rare collectibles, unique in and of themselves. Before digital printing, pages of a book were laid out by hand on a board, and each page was photographed. The plastic film negatives were then “ganged” on a massive sheet of Mylar, 16 pages per big sheet, and the printing plates were made from the negatives – everything white, printing black. We have been cutting them loose and making them available to you. I am only keeping a few dozen pages of negatives and a few complete books for myself, the rest are all being slowly offered to you, in no particular order.

  • Each is truly unique, attractive, and fun to have.
  • Own a piece of Palladium Books and RPG history you will treasure.
  • Each was used to print the very book you may have in your collection (1981-2004).
  • Each signed in silver ink by Kevin Siembieda, the founder and owner of Palladium Books. He is also the game designer and often the author or co-author of the book from which the negative originates. And some negatives bear his artwork.
  • Each signed negative comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
  • Each signed negative is a one-of-a-kind work of art (on rare occasions, two-of-a-kind if a page or section of pages were replaced or a second edition was made) that resembles woodcut art, and a very dynamic conversation piece.
  • Each signed negative is on a white board inside a clear plastic bag.
  • Negatives looks fabulous matted or framed! Fits in an 8×10 inch matt opening. Each neg is roughly 8½ x 11 inches.
  • Prices vary depending on the title, the art, and quality of the negative. Note: Many have scratches, or blemishes, and/or an opaque medium on the negative. Still, they look great and are a piece of RPG history. We recommend you carefully examine the photographs of each item to avoid disappointment.
  • We have been making the negatives available, in no particular order, for a number of years, and will continue to do so. However, cutting them loose, signing and bagging is a time consuming process.
  • Note: The negatives from the TMNT RPG, TMNT Adventures, and some Rifts® titles are already sold out. Moreover, the negatives from many titles were destroyed, so when you see one you like, get it when you can. Enjoy.

Original art – My Ebay store is one of the few places where you can find original artwork by me (Kevin Siembieda), Kevin Long, Charles Walton, and others, as well as one-of-a-kind negatives from classic Palladium books (they look awesome framed), and other Palladium memorabilia. Some are concept sketches, others are finished works of art, as well as a selection of prints and posters.

Closing Thoughts – Happenings at Palladium

I hope everyone is healthy and happy. I was knocked out of commission by food poisoning or a stomach bug the better part of a week. First time I’ve been that sick in a long time. I will spare you the gruesome details, but I may need to beef up game penalties for things like diarrhea and dysentery. Ah, but I have been back on my feet and rockin’ n’ rollin’ for a few days now.

Sean and I have been quietly working on a number of important projects and all are moving along nicely, including one that we hope will come as a happy surprise. Of course, this includes book titles you know are in the pipeline: Titan Robotics™, The Cyberworks™ Collection, Rifts® Bestiary Volume 2, Rifts® Antarctica, Yin-Sloth Jungles™ Expanded & Updated, and others. Releases will begin launching in June and continue throughout the summer. As for the big secret project, please cross your fingers we can nail it down because it will make many of you very happy.

There is other cool stuff boiling at Palladium as well. Like a new, upgraded website that should go live later in May. See, all types of things are in progress behind the scenes.

Likewise, I’m trying to add negatives, original art, and collectibles to my Ebay store on a regular basis. Alex should be adding some things by the weekend.

Mother’s Day is this weekend, so please make time to spend with your Mom, especially if you have a great one. I was 12 when I faced the possibility of losing my Mom; the same age that my father lost his own Mom. The monster my Mom faced was cancer. A battle she lost when I was 34. She was my friend, my confidante, my mentor, and most of all, my Mom. Every moment we shared is now a precious memory. Palladium’s warehouse manager Crystal, 22, lost her Mom in April. Her Mom battled different demons which made their relationship challenging. Still, she is missed and this weekend will be a hard one for Crystal and her family. If you still have your, Mom cherish the time you have with her and all the people who matter in your life. Let them know how important they are to you, how much they mean to you, and spend time with them. Trust me, that time, those moments, in the end, they are worth more than all the money or possessions in the world. And the time you take to call or send a card, or buy a little something, and most of all the time you spend with your Mom means more to them than diamonds.

Sorry about the nerd moment, but this should be no surprise coming from the guy who has a life-sized Stormtrooper standing guard at the front door of the Palladium offices and a 7 foot, 3 inch Alien from the Aliens movie watching over him in his office. Hmm, do you think the Alien is telepathically sending me ideas for books and new villains and monsters?

 

We hope your week is going well. We had a super-positive response to the Magical Fantasy Sale (and the sale from the previous week). We don’t know if the Dungeons & Dragons movie has everyone getting their fantasy groove on or whether it is excitement over the Palladium Fantasy RPG’s 40th anniversary this year or the new, expanded Yin-Sloth Jungles sourcebook, or all of the above, but fantasy sales have been hot even before the sale. Thank you for your support and please keep the orders coming.

 

Office mania. We have been busy dealing with all kinds of stuff the past week. At the top of the list is preparing the final logistical stage for the fulfillment of the Titan Robotics™ Kickstarter. The poker deck and different versions of the books are all at the printer, and we are making sure everything else is in stock and ready to go! Of course, the hardcovers will take several more weeks to print, sew, and bind for the June release, and we are working out the details for the shipping arrangements. Shipping overseas, especially to the UK, has its challenges, but we are getting there! Our goal is a flawless Kickstarter fulfillment. There is a new update from Sean on the Kickstarter page and elsewhere in this Update.

 

UPDATE: Yin-Sloth Jungles™ Expanded and Updated to 2nd Edition Rules: I love the additional, expanded and improved material to this book, and I’m confident you’ll love it too. If you liked the original Yin-Sloth Jungles book, you will go bonkers over this one. The setting, lore, characters, and opportunities for adventure are deeper and richer than ever. Still looking like a May release.

 

COMING Back in Print Soon: Rifts® Africa and Dragons & Gods (Fantasy). We try not to let books go out of print for long. Both of these titles are fan favorites so we are glad to have sent them in for reprints along with 6 other low stock titles. They should be available by mid-May.

The one–of–a–kind negatives are from early books and each lets you own a piece of Palladium history (and art) on the cheap. Kevin is also considering putting some Ramon Perez and other art up for sale. Savage Rifts® Conversion PDFs reminder from Sean Owen Roberson – We’ve had some of you reaching out to us to ask if pre-orders are eligible to receive the Savage Rifts conversion PDFs for Titan Robotics™ and the Cyberworks™ Collection. Many are Savage Worlds fans who have had their interest piqued by Rifts® for Savage Worlds and are unfamiliar with Palladium’s general way of doing things. First off, welcome! Second, I’d like to make a few points to help clarify everyone’s expectations:

  • There are technically two Savage Worlds Adventure Edition (SWADE) conversion documents. The first is the Titan Robotics™ SWADE conversion. The second is the Cyberworks™ Collection SWADE conversion, which was a stretch goal that Kevin and I decided to grant to all backers as an early Christmas present. For brevity, I call the docs “Savage Titan Robotics” and “Savage Cyberworks” but be advised that these are purely rules conversions, they won’t mean much without the context of Palladium’s Titan Robotics™ or Cyberworks™ Collection sourcebooks.
  • Palladium Books, unlike Pinnacle Entertainment Group (the makers of the Savage Worlds RPG), does NOT release PDFs for public sale immediately upon the release of print books. Without getting technical about business strategies, etc., please just respect that our two companies have very different market approaches.
  • This means that crowdfunding campaigns and pre-orders that include PDFs are often a unique chance to purchase PDFs at a discounted pledge or pre-order bundle price.

 

Both Savage Rifts® conversion documents are strictly Kickstarter rewards, HOWEVER the Mechanoids® (and therefore the Cyberworks™) content is especially so due to our current licensing agreement with Pinnacle Entertainment. I was super duper clear about this during the Kickstarter and all of the related interviews, but it seems new fans still got confused and were under the impression that these items would be put up for sale as PDFs as soon as they are finished. This is definitely not the case. That said, we’re bummed if any well-meaning fans get left out of the fun due to what seems to have been a fairly common misconception. – Sean

Palladium Collectibles – at Kevin’s Online Toy & Collectibles eBay Store

I am adding new collectibles and Palladium negatives over the next several weeks, so check ‘em out. Alex and I will try to post new items on a regular basis, so check in every week or so to see what’s new.

One-of-a-kind Palladium Books negatives (special and rare collectibles). Negatives are always very popular items at the Palladium Open House, Gen Con, and conventions, and are catching on as rare collectibles, unique in and of themselves. Before digital printing, pages of a book were laid out by hand on a board, and each page was photographed. The plastic film negatives were then “ganged” on a massive sheet of Mylar, 16 pages per big sheet, and the printing plates were made from the negatives – everything white, printing black. We have been cutting them loose and making them available to you. I am only keeping a few dozen pages of negatives and a few complete books for myself, the rest are all being slowly offered to you, in no particular order.

  • Each is truly unique, attractive, and fun to have.
  • Own a piece of Palladium Books and RPG history you will treasure.
  • Each was used to print the very book you may have in your collection (1981-2004).
  • Each signed in silver ink by Kevin Siembieda, the founder and owner of Palladium Books. He is also the game designer and often the author or co-author of the book from which the negative originates. And some negatives bear his artwork.
  • Each signed negative comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
  • Each signed negative is a one-of-a-kind work of art (on rare occasions, two-of-a-kind if a page or section of pages were replaced or a second edition was made) that resembles woodcut art, and a very dynamic conversation piece.
  • Each signed negative is on a white board inside a clear plastic bag.
  • Negatives looks fabulous matted or framed! Fits in an 8×10 inch matt opening. Each neg is roughly 8½ x 11 inches.
  • Prices vary depending on the title, the art, and quality of the negative. Note: Many have scratches, or blemishes, and/or an opaque medium on the negative. Still, they look great and are a piece of RPG history. We recommend you carefully examine the photographs of each item to avoid disappointment.
  • We have been making the negatives available, in no particular order, for a number of years, and will continue to do so. However, cutting them loose, signing and bagging is a time consuming process.
  • Note: The negatives from the TMNT RPG, TMNT Adventures, and some Rifts® titles are already sold out. Moreover, the negatives from many titles were destroyed, so when you see one you like, get it when you can. Enjoy.

Original art – My Ebay store is one of the few places where you can find original artwork by me (Kevin Siembieda), Kevin Long, Charles Walton, and others, as well as one-of-a-kind negatives from classic Palladium books (they look awesome framed), and other Palladium memorabilia. Some are concept sketches, others are finished works of art, as well as a selection of prints and posters.

Other collectibles include art prints, posters, comic books, Palladium limited edition hardcovers, out of print items, signed books, one-of-a-kind proofreader copies, Star Wars toys, superhero action figures, and many other toys and items from my personal collection. Closing Thoughts – Works in Progress

Sean had suggested I write about one of my favorite subjects: how teamwork makes the dream work. I took a couple of runs at it, but it either turned into a multi-page essay or I just hated it.

Part of my dilemma is I have so many matters taking up space in my head at the moment that I just cannot focus on any one thing today. I have the awesome updated and expanded Yin-Sloth Jungles to finish, my contributions to Rifts® Bestiary Volume Two to finish, Rifts® Antarctica waiting for me, and a whole bunch of meetings and business opportunities in the coming days. By the way, ALL of them (okay, most of them) are good things. Great even. If you knew half of it you would be overjoyed before you fainted from the excitement and fell over. These are the kinds of problems you want. Everything Palladium needs to restructure and grow and continue our legacy for the next 40 years has been falling into place. This has been happening since the pandemic began. Weird, right? Instead of freaking out, the pandemic re-energized and focused me. I had already been making plans for Palladium’s future and it was time to get started. So I did and we’re looking awesome.

I can’t do it alone. I need a great team. A team built not just on raw talent and skill, but a unifying company culture and a shared vision. I have that with Sean, Wayne, Alex, Kathy and Crystal, and with many of our freelancers too. And we are adding more talent and expanding the possibilities every month.

There’s been some tough decisions, but everything Sean and I are doing is to move the company forward, make us stronger, and give you the products you want. One of those decisions has been to focus on RPGs exclusively, at least for the next several years. That may sound like a no-brainer, but it has meant ending old alliances and business arrangements with certain friends and associates to start fresh and bring in new blood, new energy, new ideas and new skill sets. That requires a lot of planning, hard work, and logistics.

Sometimes, even though we are working our tails off, it feels like everything is taking too long and going too slow. We want to wow you and make you happy – and we will – but all in due time. Things are starting to come together and our work behind the scenes is becoming apparent, but it’s all a work in progress and we have only just begun. I’m not talking just about new products, but new structure, foundation, and plans for the immediate and the future. It feels like everything is changing: staff members, freelancers, printers, accountants, the marketplace, the economy … everything. That’s why we cannot share everything with you until the time is right, because to grow stronger we need to be flexible and nimble and change as opportunity presents itself. We have already had a couple of plans fall through and be replaced by bigger and better opportunities. We are wheeling and dealing and making alliances. It’s thrilling and fun, but also challenging and hard work. It will all be worth it, because you get better service and more products from Palladium, and we are building a foundation to carry the company forward for decades to come.

Thank you for hanging in there with us and for your suggestions and support. It is appreciated and vital to Palladium’s growth. It may not seem like you’ve been heard at first, but you have been, and great things are in motion. You will not be disappointed by what’s coming.
