Palladium Collectibles – at Kevin’s Online Toy & Collectibles eBay Store

I am adding new collectibles of all kinds to my Ebay store every few weeks. Some are Palladium negatives, rare and out of print books, original Palladium artwork, prints, posters, as well as other collectible toys, action figures, Nightmare Before Christmas items, one-of-a-kind proofreader copies, books, and other good stuff – including Erick Wujcik’s rare and sought after Amberzine #12-15. Check in every week or so to see what’s new. All items come from Kevin Siembieda’s personal collection.


One-of-a-kind Palladium Books negatives (special and rare collectibles). Negatives are always very popular items at the Palladium Open House, Gen Con, and conventions, and are catching on as rare collectibles, unique in and of themselves. Before digital printing, pages of a book were laid out by hand on a board, and each page was photographed.

  • Each negative is truly unique, attractive, and fun to have.

  • Own a piece of Palladium Books and RPG history you will treasure.

  • Each was used to print the very book you may have in your collection (1981-2004).

  • Each is signed in silver ink by Kevin Siembieda and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

CLOSING THOUGHTS

You are not alone


I talk with many people of all ages and every walk of life. It disturbs me that so many feel lost and afraid, especially those who despair and fear for the future of our world. Please don’t despair. I promise you the human spirit is more resilient and stronger than you imagine. The majority of people I see are good and caring. Please don’t let political rhetoric, greed, and fear-mongering isolate you or make you fret. Though the media might suggest otherwise, the good outweighs the bad and the ugly, especially if you, yourself, seek out beauty and joy.


Here’s a secret: You, yes you, hold the power to change the world. I mean it. Do so by example. By being the change you want to see.


Be the light. Be the kinder, better, more caring person you wish for the world. Wear a smile, be empathetic, be patient and just. Win one person over at a time by your good example. You can make a difference by striving to be the best you can be. You don’t have to get up on a soapbox, preach, protest, or say a word. All you need to do is be your best you and try to be appreciative, respectful and empathetic toward others. Kindness and compassion are contagious and breed reciprocal positivity.


Does that sound too simple or naive? It’s not. We and the world around us are what we make them. I knew a woman who transformed her Michigan backyard into a tropical paradise every spring and brought boundless joy to thousands of children and adults throughout the month of October. She did it by being true to herself and letting her light shine via quiet acts of kindness and generous creativity. This one, unassuming person touched and inspired friends, family, and complete strangers with simple words and actions that made the people around her feel seen and appreciated. She gifted them with joyful moments they’ll carry always.


She wasn’t a politician, educator, doctor, or inventor. In fact, she would have told you that she was nobody. At least not anybody important. And yet, there’s an army of people to whom she was very important.


I speak of Kathy Simmons, who passed away one year ago. No matter how grim or dire her situation – and she had plenty of them throughout her life – she found a way to laugh and survive without harming a soul. Mom, Dad, Erick Wujcik, and Julius Rosenstein were the same way. They never let hardship crush their spirit. Somehow, they always managed to find and embrace joy in life’s simplest pleasures no matter how dark or threatening the storm clouds.


Kathy and these other amazing “nobodies” – who were everything to me – taught me how to live, love, hold joy and laughter in my heart, and keep going no matter what. I use my memories of them and lessons learned through their example to fuel the courage to try to be my best self.


If we can do it, you can do it too. I know you can. Please don’t let the stress of life and the pettiness, cruelty, and unfairness that can sometimes accompany it, dampen your spirit and take away your joy. Hold close to you the people and things that bring you happiness. Never let anyone convince you that they aren’t important. Never believe the things that light up your imagination and bring you joy and camaraderie are stupid and worthless. Lose yourself in those stupid games that make you laugh and your heart sing. Hold on to the precious friends and the memories of wondrous adventures they have brought into your life.


And never forget that you are not nobody. Know that you are, indeed, special and important in the universe. Which is how one person can make a profound difference, whether that difference affects a single soul or millions.

Sean is back in Michigan after his trip to Asia. We cannot talk about all he was up to overseas, but it all seems to have gone very well. Likewise, we continue to lay the groundwork for upcoming projects, new book releases, a new website, and much more.


We expect to be making a major announcement about the progress of TMNT & Other Strangeness RPG Redux editions and related Kickstarter exclusives as they approach going into manufacturing. Everything is coming together nicely. Note: Gamers and Retailers can still place orders in the TMNT & Other Strangeness Pre-Order Store at the lower Kickstarter prices, but not for very much longer. (Backers, you can still add or change your Kickstarter selections, but do so soon.)


A few visitors, including writer Carmen Bellaire, have had the opportunity to see the finished book layouts and physical samples of some FanRoll items at the Palladium Studio, and love what they’ve seen. Carmen said, “Kev, the books look even better than I imagined. Fans are going to go crazy over these. And those metal Shredder dice are something special. Gotta make sure I ordered a set.”


New books coming soon: We also expect to announce the release of new books very soon – Yin-Sloth Expeditions and Bestiary Volume 2 amongst the first releases of 2025.


Social Media: The Official History of Palladium Books continues to post on the Palladium YouTube Channel every other week and you can expect to see me and Sean back on Legion of Myth, the Glitterbois, and elsewhere.


Nightbane Survival Guide Audiobook is the latest venture by the AudioRPG company to drum up excitement for role-playing game audiobooks. I think the actual Nightbane RPG will be offered next. If they get a good response (they were happy with the Dark Designs crowdfunder), they’ll do all of Palladium’s RPGs, including Fantasy, Dead Reign, and Rifts. We’re impressed with the quality of these audiobooks. Check it out. It’s only around $25 to get in on the ground floor. We think this has tremendous potential.

We love and appreciate you and your continued support on all fronts. I think some of that affection shows in the sales we offer throughout the year (a hardcover sale starts today!) and in our increasing number of YouTube videos and online interviews. Every book we write and publish is a labor of love.


That should be abundantly clear when you see the TMNT & Other Strangeness Redux editions and Kickstarter exclusives shipping this spring. We pulled out all the stops to make them truly special. The New Year is off with a bang here at Palladium Books. To get a glimpse of what’s happening behind the scenes, please check out last Friday’s: The Future of Palladium Books Special Report. There’s a lot and it’s all good. 2025 is going to be quite the ride and we hope you’ll be there for every minute of it. Not only that, but help spread the word about Palladium Books’ games, new releases, and other fun happenings.


Our thanks to everyone tuning into the Palladium Books YouTube channel to enjoy our ongoing history of Palladium Books with me (Kevin Siembieda, the founder and lead game designer) and J-M DeFoggi. News! Congratulations to Palladium author Carl Gleba (Minion War, Secrets of the Atlanteans) on the arrival of his first child! We are all so happy for you, Big Daddy.

Valley of the Pharoahs RPG! Waaaay back when, Palladium Books published the Valley of Pharaohs RPG as a box game. Well, 40 years later, I gave the author, my pal, Matthew Balent (best known for Weapons & Armour, Weapons & Castles, Weapons & Castles of the Orient, etc.), permission to reuse my artwork in a new, vastly expanded redux edition of the original game. It is a big 200+ page RPG. (The original was only 64 or 96 pages plus a dozen maps and diagrams.) The game rules are Matthew’s own creation with some unique ideas and mechanics you may find interesting, Meanwhile, the spells, characters, and ideas can be adapted to the Palladium game system with a little work. The lore, history, and writing is outstanding, so if you love Egyptian mythology, this is a must have item. Likewise, Palladium collectors may want one because the original 1985 box game is super-rare and expensive, but this authorized expanded 40th Anniversary edition is affordable and a good read. Available from Palladium Books for a limited time. Thank you for supporting the hard work of my friend, Matthew Balent, who played an important role in the early days of Palladium Books.

News! What’s hot at Palladium this week – With the end of the Surprise Package offer, we saw everything blowing out the door, but we did notice some interesting trends: Rifts® and Palladium Fantasy remain hot, but we’re seeing Phase World® and Rifts® Dimension Books along with Heroes Unlimited/After the Bomb® heating up. The surprise has been the magnitude of renewed interest in Dead Reign® RPG, it has been super-hot this past week in both regular orders and Surprise Package requests.

Dead Reign® is red hot – I think people are discovering that Dead Reign® is an intuitive, fast, fun, introductory game ideal for inexperienced, new role-players and fun for seasoned veteran gamers. The Dead Reign® setting and prime enemy (zombies) is instantly familiar and easy to understand, combat is straightforward with no magic or psionics, and the zombies are both familiar yet different, and uniquely Palladium. How zombies function and behave (the Zombie Moan, converging to get a piece of P.P.E. at the moment of a victim’s death, etc.) makes total sense and I think people like to understand how (our) zombies function and why. It answers questions about zombies that no other game offers.


Sales are up with distributors, retailers, and across the board. Just last week we had two different people visit the office. One was a business meeting unrelated to RPGs and the other was a visit by a Rifts® fan. Both were looking to try a new RPG, something beginner gamers could pick up easily. I told them about a few of our games, but both gravitated toward Dead Reign®. Both bought the RPG and love it. In fact, the business person (a big board gamer) loves the setting and is starting a Dead Reign® campaign with his wife and some friends this week! If you haven’t tried it, you might want to take a look at Dead Reign® in the future.

Closing Thoughts & News Bits

I’ve been excited to see what Matthew Balent has done with the Valley of the Pharaohs RPG ever since he asked me if Palladium Books would allow him to expand his original game and self-publish it. That was two years ago. I think it is worth the read and is filled with well written lore, magic, monsters, people and society inspired by ancient Egyptian mythology. A.W. in Mountain Grove, Missouri, writes (in part): I and my gaming group have greatly enjoyed the Palladium game system for over 20 years now. Most of us started out playing 2nd Edition D&D, and it will always hold a special place for us. However, due to the all-around ease of the Palladium system, and the near infinite possibilities that emerge from having so many different settings using the same mechanics, our games quickly transitioned away from other systems. For us, the Palladium rules are now the bar by which we compare all other game systems. Over the years, several members of our group have been able to make it to various Palladium Open Houses. Normally, it’s only been 1 or 2 of us and then the rest got to hear about it (and be jealous). However, in 2009, five of us were able to attend and I have to say it was a truly amazing experience … please have another Open House soon.

We start by touching upon my career as an artist in comic books and gaming for such companies as Judges Guild (D&D), GDW (Traveller) and others. For those of you who don’t know, my original plan was to be a comic book creator/artist/writer. Palladium Books and game design were supposed to be temporary until I broke into comics. The next thing I knew, I had a successful company on my hands and a new career that I loved. These videos should start getting posted sometime in October. I hope you like ‘em. When we’ve covered the history, we will probably go back to explore personal moments, people, and events.

It is a charity close to the heart of me and Sean, and every dollar goes direct to the people who need it, which makes a HUGE difference in saving lives in the Congo. Through your donations, BRIC has been able to install an armored security gate, build enclosure walls, construct a building for offices and classrooms, and an enlarge a stage where students perform the creative, self-help exercises learned through BRIC seminars, as well as music and dance performances that inform and uplift the community. Most recently, they have built a small structure with a toilet and shower, as well as installed basic electricity to the compound. All of this is in addition to rescuing and rehabilitating those once forced into service as child soldiers and worse by rogue warlords and bandits.


These life sustaining improvements could not happen without your prayers and financial assistance since 2022, but our crusade to save and improve the lives of the people in the region is far from complete.


Feuding rebel warlords dangerously close to the homes of the people of Goma continue to control many roads, disrupt and block food supply lines, and harass the people. This has forced many citizens of Goma to turn to BRIC for help. Without that help, they must resort to foraging for food in the rebel-filled forest where they risk their lives or capture. Children left alone while parents forage for food are at great risk of being kidnapped and trafficked. BRIC allows fathers and mothers to drop their children at the enclosure. At this safe haven the children are fed with limited supplies of food, given school lessons, and provided other help as needed.


The Democratic Republic of Congo is currently facing one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. People are displaced, starving, and homeless. Making safe havens like BRIC necessary for survival. The focus of the first 20 videos has been a chronological presentation by game line with a focus on the books and their creation; all subjects we think you would like to hear about most. But we are considering going back to cover more personal moments, people, and events after we finish that initial book release chronology. Doing these chats with the energetic and knowledgeable JM has made us both realize what a wonderful life I have lived, all the things I have done, and all the amazing people I have met and worked with. So we may go back to talk about my experiences during the early days of Gen Con, the early Palladium crew (Maryann, Alex, Erick, Matt Balent, Bill Loebs, Kevin Long, Ramon Perez, Keith Parkinson, etc.), and moments like our first small warehouse flooding on Christmas Eve, storing and shipping books from my little house on Casper street that was constantly getting broken into and robbed, Detroit’s comic book convention history and my meeting people like Gene Roddenberry, George Romero, Stan Lee, Neal Adams, and countless others. Watch for it.


Granite State Comic Con was amazing! Sean and I had the best time there. The love and positivity from Turtles fans and gamers was palpable. The gaming coordinator, Doug Shute, was sharp and helpful, and became a life saver when neither we nor the hotel could find a taxi, shuttle, or Uber at 4:00 AM Monday morning to take us to the airport for our 5:40 red-eye flight home. I wish I’d had the presence of mind to take a photo of Doug in his pajamas for blackmail purposes. What a great guy, that Doug. Granite State Comic Con is a convention Sean and I highly recommend. And their RPG area is growing by leaps and bounds. We’re already talking about coming back as guests next year in a much bigger way.


Kevin Eastman gave me a big hug, signed a few books, let us grab a few photos, and chatted awhile. I love that guy … but who doesn’t, right?. It was also wonderful to reconnect with my dear friend and artist extraordinaire Freddie E. Williams. It had been years. I had the privilege of finally meeting his delightful and lovely wife Kiki, in person, and more hugs, laughter, and chatting ensued. Luis Antonio Delgado also leapt up from behind his table all smiles to hug and chat with me and Sean, as did Jim Lawson, Mike Rooth, and others. There were dozens of TMNT comic book artists and writers present and we had the pleasure of meeting a host of them including Ben Bishop, Fero Pe, Erick Talbot, Steve Lavigne, Danny Harrell, Hugh Rookwood, Erik Burnham, and Michael Dialynas to name but a few.


The gaming area was right next to the TMNT artist alley which was super-convenient, but we still didn’t have the time to meet and chat with everyone. I very much wanted to talk with Tom Waltz and others but we just didn’t have time. Why? Because we were thrilled with the number of gamers who came by our booth to say hello. I signed more TMNT & Other Strangeness RPGs and early editions of Rifts® RPGs than I have in 20 years. Awesome! I was so busy prior to the convention that I had forgotten to send in my bio and photo to the convention until a week or two before the event, so I was not listed in the program book and a lot of people didn’t know I was attending. Sorry, that’s all my fault and will NOT happen again. Sean and I are 90% certain we will be back next year with the Redux Editions and a much larger selection of our books. So start planning now you East Coast gamers, we’ll see you next year.


It was a delight to catch up with my old pal Steve Jackson and we enjoyed meeting and talking with SJG’s CEO Meredith Placko and SJG game designer Irene Zielinski, both awesome human beings like Steve. We had a rollicking fun time with Chaosium cartographer and writer Matt Ryan and his wife Casey. They are very nice and fun people. In fact, Matt has threatened to swing by the Palladium studio the next time he’s in town.


Our thanks to the convention organizers, workers/Red Shirts, guests, and the multitude of gamers and TMNT fans who paid us a visit at our table. It is a charity close to the heart of me and Sean, and every dollar goes direct to the people who need it, which makes a HUGE difference in saving lives in the Congo. Through your donations, BRIC has been able to install an armored security gate, build enclosure walls, construct a building for offices and classrooms, and an enlarge a stage where students perform the creative, self-help exercises learned through BRIC seminars, as well as music and dance performances that inform and uplift the community. Most recently, they have built a small structure with a toilet and shower, as well as installed basic electricity to the compound. All of this is in addition to rescuing and rehabilitating those once forced into service as child soldiers and worse by rogue warlords and bandits.


These life sustaining improvements could not happen without your prayers and financial assistance since 2022, but our crusade to save and improve the lives of the people in the region is far from complete.


Feuding rebel warlords dangerously close to the homes of the people of Goma continue to control many roads, disrupt and block food supply lines, and harass the people. This has forced many citizens of Goma to turn to BRIC for help. Without that help, they must resort to foraging for food in the rebel-filled forest where they risk their lives or capture. Children left alone while parents forage for food are at great risk of being kidnapped and trafficked. BRIC allows fathers and mothers to drop their children at the enclosure. At this safe haven the children are fed with limited supplies of food, given school lessons, and provided other help as needed.


The Democratic Republic of Congo is currently facing one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. People are displaced, starving, and homeless. Making safe havens like BRIC necessary for survival. CLOSING THOUGHTS

Fond memories and William Shatner


I’ve said it before and I will say it till the day I die, Palladium fans are the greatest in the world, bar none. Though TMNT fans come darn close, and we have a lot of them in our corner too. We met a lot of nice fans from both camps at Granite State Comic Con, and folks loved seeing color preview pages of the Redux Edition and the Mutagen Green dice. As people talked with Sean about the layout and rules clarifications, and other elements of the book, you could just see the excitement building inside of them. Many were pleased to learn they could still pre-order the main Redux editions, the Black White and Red editions, the Game Master Screen, and the Mutagen Green Dice Set via the Pre-Order Store at the lower Kickstarter prices – saving around $10 per book. Speaking of TMNT stuff, you should take a look at the TMNT: Evolution, Mutation, and Reboot Kickstarter for what sounds like a comprehensive new TMNT documentary from Definitive Film.


Sean and I want to give a special shout out to long time Palladium fan, supporter, and friend Peter Porcaro who drove in to help man the booth all day Saturday. This enabled Sean and me to participate in a number of panel talks and chat with other guests. We enjoyed a nice dinner Saturday night with Peter and on Sunday night with Nicholas Kay from TransPerfect Gaming [they did the beautiful TMNT miniature sculpts, and hopefully even more interesting things in the future. ~Sean]. Like I said, we had a great time visiting with great friends and wonderful fans. Sean and I love and appreciate our fans and enjoy talking with you and signing your books. That includes Adam and Jennifer from Pinckney, Michigan, who dropped by the Palladium offices for a tour and some signatures.


Sean and I took a break Wednesday evening to experience the William Shatner Live on Stage event at the Fisher Theater in Detroit. First we watched a special screening of the movie Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan, followed by Shanter coming out to do an hour and a half chat with the audience. The man is 93 years old, yet full of life and vitality. He was sharp, fun, and absolutely hilarious! I don’t know the last time I laughed that much at any event. At the end, Sean turned to me and asked, “Is it just me, or is William Shatner the funniest man alive?” You know, he might just be. Seriously. I have seen many comedy legends in my lifetime and I must say, Shatner stands right up there with the best of them. It was a complete surprise that left us astonished. Worth every penny. If you’re a William Shatner fan and this show comes to your town, you must see it. It was so much fun.

CLOSING THOUGHTS

Hope


Life is a challenge filled with ups and downs. Good and bad – and sometimes tragedy and profound sorrow. But as bad as things may get, please continue to seek and find hope. Try to continue to see the goodness and the beauty all around you. (It is there.) Recognize that you have friends and loved ones who care about you. Cling fiercely onto hope, even if it’s only a shred of hope, and the promise that things will get better. And take care of yourself. That means forcing yourself to eat when you don’t feel like it, getting sleep and forcing yourself to go out and do things, and be around people.


It’s okay to feel sad and cry or to be angry and want to be left alone, but don’t give in to it. Fight for yourself by finding moments of joy and camaraderie even if they are fleeting – and even when you hurt so bad it’s hard to breathe and you feel like giving up.


Don’t give up on yourself or give in to the dark emotions of sorrow and hopelessness that, in the moment, may somehow seem reasonable or comforting. They are neither. Things will get better. Focus on your tiny accomplishments and little triumphs. It’s hard as hell, but keep finding the way, whatever it may be for you.


In the initial weeks that I was grieving for Kathy but had finally come back to work, there were many a day where I barely accomplished one task. Rather than beat myself up for doing so little I chose to see each as an accomplishment. One thing off my list of many things to do.  Under the circumstances, each one thing was an accomplishment. Little triumphs that grew in number with every passing day.


I also made myself go out and do things. Not just shopping and going to work, but going out with friends, going to a movie or dinner, going to Chaosium Con and to the Ann Arbor Library event when all I wanted to do was curl up into a ball at home and cry. I did a host of similar little things. Each one a tiny accomplishment. Each one helping me to find a few moments of joy and camaraderie and connection to the world around me.


I want to share this with you as I work through my own grief and loss, because I know there are others going through the same thing. And though I wish no one ever had to feel the deep loss of a spouse, child, parent, or loved one, you will. It’s inevitable. When that time comes, I hope you’ll realize you are not alone, and that my words of hope may encourage and guide you through your own sorrow.


My grief is easing a bit. I find myself laughing and having fun without forcing myself to do so. I still struggle with the loss of Kathy, and my grief is still a beast that attacks when I least expect it. I still have bad days. In fact the past weekend was brutal. Everything reminded me of Kathy. I was flooded with memories that came in pounding waves. There were moments when I felt like I was drowning in my grief and sorrow, but there were also memories that made me smile or chuckle even as tears streamed down my cheeks. I focused on the smiles because they are a big accomplishment. I had feared I’d never be able to think of Kathy without tears or sadness, but there it was: genuine emotions of happiness – some accompanied by tears and some without.


I was blessed to have Kathy in my life for any length of time at all. We were best friends and more. I’ve been blessed to have incredible people come and go throughout my life. My challenge now is moving forward toward happiness and a life without my beautiful Kathy. That’s a big challenge, but I’ll get there no matter how long it may take. I’m already beginning to slowly travel down that path. I got there by hanging on to a sliver of hope even as I felt hopeless, by achieving a thousand tiny accomplishments, and with help from my friends. And that’s how I’ll continue down this path.


If I can do it, so can you. To quote the movie Galaxy Quest – “Never give up. Never surrender!” Not even when you feel like you have nothing left to give and can’t go on. You can. You will. You must. And you’ll be glad you did; and so will all the people who care about you. Life is hard. It can be horrible and agonizing at times, but it’s also good and wonderful. A true adventure in which you are the one going through the hero’s journey. A journey filled with love and loss, triumph and failure. That’s all okay, because that’s what life is all about.


I hope I didn’t get too philosophical on you. Life is beautiful. Smell the roses, delight in your friends, enjoy the good times, revel in your triumphs, and game on.  Today, I saw a deer and her fawn and I was able to smile and enjoy the joyful moment. As Erick would say, it’s all good.

2024 Gen Con Report


It seemed like the biggest, busiest Gen Con ever! The event was sold out a week or so before the doors even opened and there were signs at the front of the convention center saying Sorry, sold out. The Exhibitor’s room was jam-packed from the very start. In fact, most people reported Thursday as the biggest sales day of the convention. We were so busy the entire weekend, I saw only the art show and a quarter of the Exhibitors’ Hall.


That’s okay, I enjoyed being at our booth for our fans to sign hundreds of books over the weekend. There were a few times where it seemed like I was signing books in rapid succession for an hour straight. One gamer asked if my hand was cramping up – it wasn’t, I was doing fine and happy as a clam. I love meeting the fans, chatting, signing books and doing my dragonhead drawing here and there for them.


The new T-shirts, coffee mugs, and prints all drew a lot of attention with the Nuclear Glitter Boy print (a GB raising a Rifts flag) and the Rifts logo T-shirt being the most popular new items. There were only three Rifts T-shirts left when the show ended! We were selling a little bit of everything and all the hardcover editions were big sellers: After the Bomb RPG and sourcebooks (on sale), Nightbane RPG and sourcebooks, and all things Rifts.


The life-size TMNT statue of Leonardo was an instant hit with everyone!We had people taking photos with Leo before the hall even opened to the public. We estimate 1,000+ people took a photo with Leo on Thursday alone. There were a lot of great moments with the life-size Leonardo.


One great moment involved a three-year-old child who ran up to Leo shouting, “Dad! Dad, look!”

“It’s Leonardo,” said the father.

“I know,” said the three year old. “He’s my favorite!”

“Would you like your picture taken with him?” asked the beaming father.

“Oh yes, please!” said the adorable child. The boy proceeded to lean against Leo, placed his hand on Leo’s leg, and smiled the biggest smile I may have seen at the entire convention. It was a beautiful moment.


Children of all ages enjoyed Leonardo the entire weekend.


Another fun TMNT moment occurred when a pair of cosplaying actors dressed up as Bebop and April O’Neil discovered our Ninja Turtle. The thronging Thursday crowd went wild as they struck pose after pose in front of Leo for the delighted fans. It was outstanding and so much fun.


A personal TMNT moment: I was talking with one of our TMNT & Other Strangeness Kickstarter backers, a gent by the name of Sean (there seem to be a million Seans out there), and he mentioned that he was friends with Ralph Attanasia of Cake Boss fame. My beloved Kathy Simmons was an amazing cook and baker. She used to make wedding and birthday cakes professionally in her youth, so we watched Cake Boss, Buddy Vs Duff, and other food shows all the time. We enjoyed such programs and we love Ralph and his amazing cake sculpting skills. Well, it turns out Ralph is a TMNT and Palladium Books fan! I was floored. Kathy would have been thrilled to learn that. What a small world, and a fun, touching moment for me.


The Redux TMNT & Other Strangeness RPG Preview. Sean had put together 50 color pages of the RPG that displayed layout, color art, and some tribute art – all of which put a smile on everyone’s faces. Kickstarter backers were thrilled by what they saw. We heard a lot of comments like:

“Wow, this is amazing.”

“The color is incredible. Better than anything I had imagined.”

“Even the lock picks are colored!”

“I love the airy layout and color headlines.

“I’m so glad I backed this.”

“I can’t wait until it ships.”


Gamers learning about the two Redux Editions for the first time were equally impressed and happy that this legendary RPG is coming back in deluxe format. We handed out hundreds of the color flyers describing the books, GM screen, and Mutagen Green dice.


Sean and I had two panel talks that went great. The first was Rifts and the Future of Palladium Books. The second was about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. We had an excellent showing for both and we were asked a lot of good questions. It was fun for us and the people present. During the Rifts panel, I mentioned how Rifts Coalition Manhunters is NOT the same as the old Rifts Manhunter sourcebook created in the 1990s by a third party licensee. Sean, saw a gamer lean over and tell his buddy, “We’ll need to go back to the Palladium booth.” In fact, so many people make that mistake that we are strongly considering changing the title and the cover art in the future.

The YouTube channel Through Gamer Goggles has posted part of the Palladium Books panel they graciously recorded.


Expressions of friendship for Palladium Books. In addition to hundreds of gamers and fans stopping by the booth to say hello, get books signed, or to make a purchase, several kind souls took me and the Palladium crew out to dinner.  Mike X of Real Gamers treated us to dinner on Wednesday, Frank at Studio 2 on Thursday, and Ryan from Transperfect on Friday. Great company and delightful conversation during them all. We talked about business, all things gaming, and many other subjects.


I was also given a special T-shirt and some minis. Our pals at Chaosium gave us some RPG books, and I was also given a light up skull, a Harley Davidson poker chip, and some other nice stuff. I felt quite loved and appreciated with all these displays of kindness and friendship. Of course, we also had the pleasure of visiting with and being helped by a number of friends that included Mark Oberle, Glen Evans and Kate, John Klinkel, Sean and Lisa Hall (and we saw other members of the Hall family), Jim, Diane and Connor Brown, Chris Landauer, NMI, and Mike, Sam and Maggie Leonard. It was also nice to see Jodi and Clint Black, Frank Uchmanowicz (always great conversations with Frank), Rick, Justin, and the Chaosium crew, John Zinser (AEG), Jolly and Barb Blackburn (KoDT), Brandon and Sarah (Wet Ink), JM Defoggi, Molly, and far too many other friends to name here. My thanks to everyone who stopped by to spend some time with us.


Gen Con first timers. It was Caleb’s (our excellent warehouse guy), Autumn’s (Sean’s teenage daughter), and John K’s (freelance writer) first Gen Con. It’s always fun seeing the newbies’ reactions to this massive event and all it has to offer. Everyone enjoyed a good time.


We have already booked our booth for Gen Con 2025. The next two conventions for me and Sean are the Alliance Open House early September and Granite State Comic Con in New Hampshire, late September, and we’re looking forward to seeing many comic book and TMNT creators including Kevin Eastman, Freddie E. Williams, and many others.

Today we’re busy finishing the setup of the booth to welcome all of you fans tomorrow when GEN CON starts in earnest!

We couldn’t be more excited to share Erick Wujcik’s legacy with TMNT with a new generation and rekindle the love with all of you fans who have known his magic for decades. We know he’d love to see the amazing reception for the campaign and he’d be proud of the work Sean and the legion of artists have done to bring it back with such finesse.

If you missed the campaign, you can still pre-order TMNT and save $5-$10 per each book. Leonardo being the centerpiece of our booth this year is a fitting tribute. But Erick’s work also shines on in the many other Palladium games he crafted.
